Pluses and minuses

Pluses and minuses of living in Ukraine.

Ukraine is a developing state. And like in every developing state there are some pluses and minuses of living in a young, developing country, like Ukraine. I have tried to gather all of them and I found 2 pluses and 4 minuses.

So, let us consider all the pluses I have found.

The first one is that living in Ukraine one can preserve his or her national Ukrainian culture, keep his or her native cultural traditions freely and practice his or her religion. Our government does a lot to preserve it - in passed 17 years of Ukrainian independence lots of educational establishments became ukrainisated; Ukrainian national heroes were remembered and honored, and of course Ukrainiah became the official language of the state.

The second and not less important is that nowadays there are lots of working stations in Ukraine. With the help of foreign investments huge Ukrainians factories and plants, which have been built in Soviet times but were half-ruined during perestroika, are restored. And there are lots of working facilities on them.

         And now let us examine all the minuses I managed to find.

         The first and the most “bright minus” of  living in Ukraine is that the incomes here are very low. School and university teachers, doctors and service sector workers receive a really tiny amount of money, and most of them have to find underworkings.

Inflation is also a huge minus of life in Ukraine: the prices keep growing and small salaries keep staying stable.

It is an unstable political situation in Ukraine and no one knows who will be at the head of our state tomorrow. And who wants to live in a country with perm anent treat of political upheaval?

 The next one is that medical treatment is free of charge in Ukraine and in fact it is not. One has either to bring his own drugs to the hospital or to pay for them because the medical treatment is not financed enough.

So, I have found much more minuses than pluses of living in Ukraine. They made me think about the next question: Do I really want to build my future in the country that has so many minuses and gives so few benefits for its citizens?

Life is so quick. Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend. It flies quickly, but remember – you are the navigator. Life is full of different strange and exciting moments that people call chances or opportunities.

Talking about the opportunities I would like to tell you the story of one of my friends. The girl I am telling about is my classmate. Since she was 12, she had a dream to study in the USA. She had applied hundreds of different exchanging programs such as FSA, CIEE, Work-and-Travel. She failed lots of times but she never gave up. Her motto is: If you cannot win, change the rules; if you cannot change the rules, ignore them. Finally, she won the “USA-USA” program grand for studying at school in New York. That was just the example of a girl, who knew what she wanted from her future career and her life in general.   

I think that the opportunities you are suggested should be, no doubt, accepted. If something is worth doing, it should be done right now.  You should always try to reach your goals and to achieve your wishes. It does not matter how much it will cost.

So if you are able to achieve your goal, you are the winner.

A winner never follows others like a sheep. He goes confidently to the direction of his dream because a challenge is the symbol of freedom for him.

None of us wants to be a white stock, a looser. Being passive means being not successful. Being active means not to hide away from problems and difficulties of the world.  You are the only creator of your own destiny.

Life represents a challenge and it depends o you, whether you will except this challenge or not. 

Mother Teresa once said:

Life is a challenge, meet it.

Life is costly, care for it

Love is an adventure, dare it

Life is life, fight for it.

I think that a person, who is not afraid of the challenges, will agree with Mother Theresa, that the life is a real battle. And to win this battle you have no other choice but to except the challenges of the life and not to be afraid of the difficulties. Mother Theresa never stopped bringing her light to the darkest corners of the world. And for all of us it is also very important not to stop even if you failed in some matter. Experience makes us wise and confident. Challenges give us freedom to overcome all the barriers and to snatch the purposes.
